Volunteer Give A Little Love Feed More_COVER Finding volunteer opportunities for the whole family can be a little tough sometimes. Whether it’s a matter of finding time for the whole family to join in or it’s finding opportunities that are age-appropriate for your whole crew, we can’t always give back as much as we would like. That’s why we LOVE volunteer opportunities like the ones presented by Feed More’s Meals on Wheels. Throughout the year, they offer multiple ways that you and your whole family can give back to your community in real and meaningful ways. And today, we want to highlight their “Give Back A Little Bit of Love” volunteer program.

Every weekday, Meals on Wheels, one of Feed More’s most well-known programs, relies on volunteer drivers to deliver hundreds of meals to disabled, elderly, and shut-in neighbors throughout Central Virginia. As an added service to their clients, Meals on Wheels volunteers also like to hand out cards for special occasions like holidays or birthdays. The cards are often handmade by members of the community – members just like you. And for many who receive them, these cards are a treasured connection to their community – one they are often unable to maintain otherwise.

So why not “Give Back A Little Bit of Love” this Valentine’s Day?

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, Feed More is asking for your help. They are collecting Valentine’s Day cards to deliver over the coming weeks. All you have to do is grab your kids, gather some art supplies, and start creating! The more creative the better.

If you would like to participate in the “Give Back A Little Bit of Love” program, here are few guidelines to keep in mind:

  • Cards should include uplifting messages and/or pictures.
  • Please do not include religious content or pictures.
  • Sign your card(s) from ‘Your friends at Feed More’s Meals on Wheels.’
  • Most importantly, have fun and be creative!

To be sure your cards make it to Meals on Wheels’ clients in time, please drop off your cards at Feed More by Friday, February 7. There will be a box in the main lobby area, making it easy and convenient to get your donation in the hands of community members who will treasure them.

If you would like to learn more about how you and your family can make a difference in your community through Meals on Wheels, the Weekend Backpack program, the School Market, or any of Feed More’s vital community programs, be sure to visit their volunteer page to get started.
